I have set a website to be the site that starts up every time I open IE.

Trouble is that I have installed a bit of software that has tapped into this and set my start up page to be its own site.

I have been back into the settings to change it back but everytime I restart it changes back to the site that belongs to the software.

I want to keep the software but the control it is having on IE is really annoying, how can I regain control of my IE start up page?????

Please help

What's the name of the software? Have you perused its settings for a way to turn this option off?

you went to tools in IE...maybe the software you installed has its own option for a startup page...you may be able to disable their page or input your own from with in this software??

Just a thought!

I went thru the steps you mention and things were looking very promising.

I then restarted the PC just to see that the homepage had changed back again!!! The difference being that I can now no longer use the "select current homepage" function at all now, it is all greyed out.

With it being greyed out I can see that what you explain does work but isnt quite effective with this problem. Do you know what is forcing this change to my homepage setting? Whatever I do I get forced with this setting:

and it is really annoying now!

I would love to go into the bit of software that did this and delete it but I have no clue what bit of software has done it???

Help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It hasn't put an entry into msconfig/startup has it? If so, unticking the box may work. My suggestions are what I would try myself. If incorrect, I welcome corrections to my rather limited knowledge. Andy.

Limited knowledge I dont know, the right suggestion I do know.

I had a look and saw that there was an entry in the startup under msconfig and it linked it to a bit of software I had recently installed.

Rather than mess around I just got rid of the software. I hate it when they try to dictate what you do with your own PC. Anyway.....

Thanks to reghakr for some useful bits of info that I can use and pass on and a big thanks to hotfusion who pointed me the right way.

Not to mention the rest who took the time out to help me. I have always used this site to resolve problems and it has NEVER failed me yet. Thanks everyone!!!!

Glad you got it.

You're right, you'll never find tech support like this from a manufacturer.
