Hello all. I'm having problems with my pc. I have win 98 wiht internet explorer version 6 and my pc crashes all the time. I try downloading and running spyware and adware programs but beacause the pc is so corrupt the installation freezes up right in the middle of scanning for errors.

If i'm on the net surfing , internet explorer closes it down own me and when i click internet explorer to go back again to the site it closes it down again. I have to reboot my computer to start all over, , but before it loads all the way, i get the blue sreen of death. So i turn off the pc, wait 10 min, reboot and everything is fine , till about 10-15 min , then i start getting shut out again.

I treid upgrading to win 2000, it wont let me ,it shuts off one me.I tried doing a quick restore same problem , it shuts off. Any suggestions will be helpfull.

Thanks!!!

Go into safe mode, put your system disc in. Go to start run, then type sfc and hit ok. Let it scan and replace them from the disc. When that is done see if you can install this antivirus and then run it from dos. You will need to know how to navigate to the folder its in for dos isnt like windows. The link is below

the location might vary on your computer but usually the location will be as follows

c:\program files\srn micro\solclean.bat

I might have mistyped something so that might not work but I think thats it.

electronicfreak is right. one more thing to add is, that if your computer is crashing all the time do keep in ming it might be due to low system resources on top of everything else( spyware, virus and so on)so when you install antivirus make sure not to install ( norton and mcafee ) they are serious resource hogs. good luck...
