Internet Explorer Error

Ok here is my problem

1) I can connect to my web connection....
2) When I go to open my IE I get
Ne (or Explorer) has caused an Invalid page fault
in module <unknown> ........

So what I need to know
How can I tell what file ( I think a .dll file ) is it looking for, or does anyone know where to get a list of the files needed to run Internet Explorer.

An idea to try repair IE from Control Panel > Add/remove Programs > IE (?)

ok, if you are getting the one about internet explorer has caused an error and has to close, you can find out what file, or module I think they call it, is causing the problem, by clicking on more details, and I think near the top, it will give you a .dll file.

Go to MSKB and do a search for internet explorer error, and go down the list to find the patch that fits your operating system, and the particular .dll file.

If you can't get into internet explorer to do this, you can actually get in by right click on my computer - explore then go Internet Explorer from there. You might find it has something to do with Xupiter a spyware site.

Not Quite !!!

At start-up OF THE COMPUTER it scans and reads 46 Files, we one was deleted, now only read 45. We CAN connect to the server using dial-up network HOWEVER when ever we open a browser, it gets this error

EXPLORER has performed an illegal function at module <unknown> at ( memory address )

or if we open in AOL it says

WAOL has performed an illegal function at module <unknown> at ( memory address )

the computer does say <unknown> !!!

As PAndersen said, go to Start/Settings/Control Panel/Add-Remove Programs and click on the IE6 with SP1, then click on the remove button. This will open another box that will give you the option to Repair IE6. The test continues...

Honestly spud, you are describing exactly what I had about 3 weeks ago now. The answer is definitely in the knowledge base. Just click on the details of the warning box, and in the first few lines, it will come up with a some file names, these are what you search for in the knowledge base. I think if more than one file is corrupt, the computer can't decide which it is, so says unknown.

I am assuming that you are running windows 98 though to be fair, if you are, then it should definitely be there. I don't know other operating systems myself, but I would have thought you should find it.
