Hi,
In windowx XP Professional SP2, browsing speed is very slow, internet connection speed is alright. I have checked for viruses and malware also, nothing is found. I tried to restore system but windows was unable to restore completely. One problem was there since few months, that Internet explorer was conflicting with MSN messenger, I was not able to use both concurrently. But now I am unable to use internet explorer alone.

Any help would be highly appreciated.

Regards,
Muhammad Tayyab

You might try to ping your isp or a few websites to see if the packets need to be broken. My connection speed showed that it was good, but in reality it took forever for pages to load-or they wouldn't load at all. I ended up changing the max mtu until all packets went thru the ping. They say that XP does not need any changes - but this worked for me.
To ping the isp/or go to the command prompt -
type in "ping I have to lower the mtu on my xp machine to 1440 before all the packets would go thru.

I just searched google max mtu

You can also you a program called tweakmaster - it is shareware - but before you install it find out where you need to set the mtu, then change it with the program.

If they don't work you could try repairing windows by running it over itself. You will lose all your windows updates (no problem if you substitute them with SP2) but your files and programs will be untouched.
