Hi all

I have recently (and possibly unwisely) upgraded my IE on Windows 2000 to IE 6.

First off, anyone know how I can get rid of IE 6 - I need to downgrade to IE 5.5 for one of my programs to work. I have tried Add/Remove programs and third party uninstallers but no luck at all.

Second off, if I CAN'T remove it (or at least WHILE I am removing it ;-) ), it currently won't let me download anything that opens a new browser window e.g. on sites that don't allow download accelerators, the download will often open in a new window. Now on my PC, it is just opening a new completely blank window that sits there and does nothing.

Can anyone help me with this PLEEEASE [sob]

Thanks as always

Downloads may be disabled within IE. Go to Control Panel->Internet Options->Security Tab->Click on Custom Level and in there you will see the settings that control IE Security including downloading.

If it is active....disable it....exit IE properties and go back in and re-enable it.

If that odesnt work....try to reinstall IE6....if thats not good.......get your OS installation disks...you may need them.

Let me know how you get on

Hi Rathcoffey

Thanks a lot for the advice - the removing and re-adding of the download permissions, a reinstall and a good solid reboot seem to have done the job. So I can download again.

Just wish I could get rid of this wretched thing now ;)

Thanks as always
