I have a weird issue that has stumped even SonicWall. Oh, i have a 2040pro with enhanced OS. I have the X2 and X3 ports not in use. I am trying to assign the default DMZ zone to the X3 port. when i do so, traffic going to the internet stops. In order to correct the issue, i have to re-assign the port to the zone it was on and then turn off the sonice wall and my DSL modem and turn them back on. Then internet access is possible. The same situation occures if i try it on port X2.

has anyone run into an issue like this? SonicWall is suggesting that i backup the config file, reset the device to factory defaults, then reload the config file. I am going to have to try that during a non busy time since it is a production SonicWall.

Just curious if anyone has run into this issue. Thank you for any feedback!

I have run into weird issues like this and the only way I was ever able to resolve them was to blow the thing away.

thanks for the reply joepc. That is what i got from sonicwall. The device has to be reset and reconfigured. Oh well, i am kinda new to sonicwalls so this might be a good learning experience.
