I am definitely no computer whiz and don't claim to be one but I have a problem at work that I can't figure out. In the past I have used a laptop, I also have a desktop, to connect directly to the internet. I haven't had to plug in a username or password and it has never asked me. Yesterday I go to try and access the web and I get a "cannot display page". Then I find out that our tech man is changing out some parts of the server. I'm thinking that something changed when he did that.

On my desktop I can access the net but I also have to login to the server. Does anyone know what I need to do to get the laptop to access the internet and/or server? I would really like to bypass the proxy if I can but I may not be able to do that. I would appreciate it if someone could help me.

You will need to have your "tech man" set it up.

If I told you how to bypass the proxy, and you were caught violating your company's internet policy, would you still have a job?
