When someone plays a sport for their country, do we say, for example, John Barnes the English International; or, John Barnes the England International?

I thougt it was England Inernational - I think it is possible to play for England even if you're not English but you have some kind of link to England (maybe a grandparent)
 
Definitely 'England International'. My reasoning being you can be English and be an Ireland International - just ask any number of players under Jack Charlton!
