Internal USB connectors?

Hallo,

I have an MSI K7T Pro MoBo which says it has 4 USB ports (2 Rear Connectors/ 2 USB Front Pin Header)
I want to add an internal (in a 5.25 drive bay) USB hub, but don't want to connect it to either of my two rear connectors.
The Hub I'm looking at has a 'normal' USB connnector.
Can I use one of my USB Front Pin Header sockets to drive my hub?
If so, how do I connect it up, or do I need to be looking at a different USB Hub?

I am not sure about the 'connectors' you are talking about, but if you use a HUB I could be possible that you will lose one (or all) USB-ports of your machine. In this case you would only be able to use the HUB's ports for connecting USB-devices... patrick.metz@epost.de

Hallo,

I've looked up a few new terms since my last post.

I have two type-A USB ports on the back of my PC. These work splendidly.
I want to install a USB hub, ideally connecting it to one of the two Front Pin Header ports on my motherboard.
Undortunately, the USB hub I've been looking at, only has a type A USB connection to the PC, not an internal one.
Can I convert from a type A socket to a Front Pin Header or doesn't it work like that?

Most modern motherboards (like the one you have) do indeed have two or even 4 internal USB headers, rows of raised pins much like a front panel header.
So your external plug in USB socket wouldn't be much use!
That is not to say it couldn't be done but you would have to cut off the present plug and replace it with single pin terminal connectors or the proper USB block plug.
Another thing is you would have to be very sure of correct wiring configuration as getting it wrong would result in burning out your board.
Connections are: VCC, USB-, USB+ & Ground and the pin sequence can be very differant from board to board.
Only proceed if you have ALL the necessary wiring information of USB hub and motherboard headers. Martin Just trying to help, sometimes falling short, I am only human after all.

I have a question to add onto this post...

I am buying a case that has USB ports in the front, but my MOBO doesnt have hookups except for in the back, is there any way that you can reroute those from the back up to the front?
