One thing that caught my eye that I didn't notice the first time are your remarks: "We are using a program here that will automatically calendar court dates and such for all our attorneys."
This is a 3rd party application used in conjunction with groupwise?
Here's a brain dump of what I would do if I were at your location.
- Verify mail works 100% correctly just with the POA and MTA running. I'd unload the GWIA, and the 3rd party app that you mentioned. With GWIA and the 3rd party app unloaded, is everything working OK with internal mai?
- Then load the GWIA, and see what happens. Does all internal mail stay internal, and only internet mail cross the GWIA? (as in normal operation) or... Does some internal mail go to the GWIA still? (as in do you still have the problem) Do you have verbose logging running? That may be helpful. If internal mail is crossing the GWIA it would be interesting to see what the log said for these messages, that would provide some clue as to why.
Another comment you made: " I don't know how to configure the Internet Addressing."
Has anyone other than you ever configured the GroupWise Gateway? Who installed the system, you? Who installed the 3rd party software? Has your current configuration ever worked? Or is your problem the result of some change, (as in something was just installed?)
As sobak has already stated, " I am sure it is going to be in your internet addressing rules on your domain but would like to know how you are configured first.
Yes, internet addressing rules are a very probable cause of your issue.
