We have an office in NY and one in London and would like to replace our existing external ringdown line with an internal one so we can avoid paying another company to handle this.

The two sites are linked and the phones work well. Coming from an Opt 11c I'm not sure the best way to do this in an Avaya environment.

The way its setup now is ext A is bridged on 5 phones here in NY and ext B is bridged on 5 phones there. Someone from there will hop on ext b and dial ext A. and it will ring the 5 people here.

There has to be a better way to do this as abridged appearances so NY can pick up their handset and just push a button and visa versa but i don't know how to set it up

Any help would be appreciated.

I should further add that we're using 9640s and each user has their own DID.

I think the way i would set this up 1. to work and 2. to avoid a place for toll fraud is a a coverage answer group.

Build up a station and place a remote coverage path on it to the other location. Have that number setup with one ring (coverage path) to c? first point of answer (this would be the group you set up.) to your coverage answer group. You can add up to 8 people in a coverage answer group.

If you wanted to make this a one button push setup, give them auto dial button for the original extension.

Routes like this.

call extension xxxx goes to coverage, goes out remote coverage path to other location. Other locations extension goes to coverage to coverage answer group up to 8 line rings at once.

The thing is, i need for multiple people from group A and multiple people from group B to have the ability to jump in on the same call like a traditional ringdown.

In that case skip the coverage answer group and make bridged appearances of one number on all their phones. Turn on ringing on bridged appearances on second page of station form.

This might sound stupid but I use my conference system. I have a never ending meeting that all traders log into and then place on a speaker. When they need to converse the pickup the handset or un-mute the speaker. Now I am running IP trunks to the locations so long distance charges are not an issue.

Hope this makes sense
