I want to put Exchange on and just use the email, messaging, & Calendar internally. I don't care about setting it up so they can send email externally, just internally. Is this possible and do you know where I can get directions on this?

Thanks, AV

yes you can do this

just run a usual install but your domains are .local

Yes, just avoid configuring the IMS (Internet Mail Service) and everything will be fine, just internal use.

for 5.5, by default it doesn't even do internet, unless you specifically add IMS service.

How would you configure it if you wanted to have internal email (.local) and then still have email delivered from a POP3 address to your local box? And is there any way to send email out of that pop3 from your .local?

I was told also that you can't use Remote Outlook Web if you didn't setup IMS, is this true?

Thanks for all the help,

AV

Good question. If you want pop3, you have to add IMS service. For your questions about pop3, simply configure it for inbound and outbound. You're asking for a fully configured IMS for external use. If you don't care about it's existence on the internet, don't sign up for an MX record in the registra.

As for OWA, you can install it even without the presence of IMS.
