I have a single win 2k server with AD, dns, dhcp and a web server. i have a belkin router to get on the internet, but when online i cant get on to my internal webserver. it works by IP, but to get online i have to put my isp dns in be for my dsn. van any one help?

Does your website have the same domain as your ad domain?

Yes, the website has the same name as the ad. Nothing on my network works with dns, i know that every thing works offline, but online it all stops.

Go to Start --> programs --> admin tools --> DNS. Expand your server, expand forward lookup zones then expand your domain name. Right click under your domain name and select add new host. Host name = address = your internal ip address.
While your in DNS verify that there is no "." folder under forward lookup zones. If it is present, then delete it.
Right click on your server name and select properties. Select the forwarders tab and make sure your isp's dns servers are added there.

I have a file and the "." flie is there to, but i cant forword. It tells me that it is a root server.

You need to delete the "." folder. This tells windows that it is a root server and not to forward any requests. Once it is deleted then you can add forwarders.
