Hi There,

I am a bit confused after setting up an internal DNS server and configuring the zones appropriately. All seemed to work fine for a day or two, then all of the sudden some images or pictures do not show up when browsing. Also when I run the Windows update it seems to not work.

If I change the static entries for my internal TCP/IP settings to point to the external DNS then all seems to work fine with my IE and clients.

If I change it back to my internal with forwarding to external DNS, I am back to where I started with the problem of browsing certain websites...

Is there someone out there who can enlighten me on this?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!!

Thank You
George

In your DNS Settings you need to either allow recursion, enable forwarders, or both. This will allow your dns server to resolve outside addresses.

And of course your forwarders would be your ISP's DNS servers.

Devastator,

Thank you for the pointers! I don't have recursion enabled and the forwarders are setup to look at the ISP DNS server,

I will try again and let you know what happens...
