IPO 500 v2, R9.0.4(965), standard POTS lines, only 1 ICR with almost everyone in 200 MAIN and part of the same User Rights group. Internal calls are taking anywhere from 5-8 seconds to start ringing the other party. Calls from the DSS or a configured button work right away, and punching in the extension number manually appears to be the only thing affected. Any ideas?

dialplan overlaps with some shortcodes or outcalling is my guess.
If you use ARS then also check if you have a ; behind the entries which prolong the dialing process

Do you have for example different extension such as 2xx and 2xxx in the same pbx

All of the extensions are 2xx, it's only about a 15 extension system with no extensions above 231, and it doesn't include any odd short codes or ARS alterations. In fact, I've put this same/similar configuration on hundreds of systems without any issues. I thought perhaps there was a local area code or prefix that might begin with 20x, 21x, 22x, or 23x, but there isn't. The ARS table is the default one, and there are only a few extra short codes included that deal with the Auto Attendant and the ?/Dial/. short code.

Anything I might be missing? I don't see anything amiss, there are no individual User Right or User short codes other than the restricted phone set, and as I mentioned this is a very standard configuration for this customer.

could you post your config so we can take a look?

If you have a ?/Dial/. Short code the system will wait for the dial delay timer (4secs) until it starts to check for valid extensions/groups/short codes

derfloh, I thought of that so adjusted the dial delay timer to 2 seconds instead of 4 as a test, and that brought the time down from 8-10 seconds to 6-8 seconds (I once got 5 seconds as well) before the extension was dialed. I'd be happy to post the config and will grab a copy of it.

do you have 7 digit or 10 digit local dialing?

make sure you have a SC in the ARS that specifies the length of it
xxxxxxx
dial
N
your Line ID

that way the system won't wait for the dial delay timer because it knows that 7 digits are coming. (Make it 10 x's if you have 10 digit dialing)

then for LD and toll free you make it
1xxxxxxxxxx
dial
1N
your Line ID

those 2 shortcodes will make sure that local, LD and tol free calls are dialed immediately when you reach the number of digits.

911 you can leave or if you want to delay it then put a ; behind it
then if you have specialty numbers shorter than the local dialplan you need one more
xN;
dial
N
your Line ID

which covers all that is 2 digits or more (some places have 310xxxx numbers or 811, 311, 411 etc that you also need to cover but those will wait until the timer expire.

There should also be no ; in the ARS and the 9N system shortcode should also have no ; behind it.

Sorry I missed the reason for the post entirely.
If you post the config we will all be over it like white on rice to find the issue. Make sure you delete any privacy information before posting because you never know who is lurking in the dark. Remove all speeddials with real phone numbers and change names and email addresses.

Sound like you left the system dial delay timer as it had been before but adjusted the dial delay in ARS.

I do it just as West suggested, once the last digit is pressed it dials out because it knows how many digits to expect.

But he seems to have to wait before the call enters ARS. So it must be system telephony settings and/or the short codes used.

try hitting the # tag after dialing the internal extension, will it then route immediately?
