Hi;
I have some files on a WinXP NTFS network share. When attempting to copy the files to Win2k or XP computers (all NTFS), I occasionally get the error "Cannot copy <filename>: The parameter is incorrect". The copy (explorer drag-and-drop) works fine on some computers, but not on others, and I haven't found a common correlation between them. Sometimes it even works on one computer, but then when tried again another day, does not.
The path is not anywhere close to too long, the files are good, the disk check comes back clean, and the event log doesn't register any event or error code to check. The files are only 50mb or so apiece, so it's not a size error, and it doesn't appear to be network congestion or errors because it's always the same file each time I try. Or, rather, if I try to copy a bunch of files, and "Q.EXE" causes the error, then Q.EXE won't work even if I try to copy it by itself. But, after reboot, or on a different computer, Q.EXE works fine, but R.EXE doesn't. All computers have plenty of disk space to spare, and aren't short of RAM or running any strange software. Sometimes, the entire copy works just fine.
Does anyone have any ideas as to what is causing this?
Thanks,
Cerv
