Hello all,

I wonder if there is a way to manually influence the interface reliability of an interface. When executing a 'show interface', the 'reliability' is always 255/255, how can I get this to e.g. 180/255 ? I know this value is based on keepalives, but what has to happen, which event has to occur, for this value to change ?
Thanks for your help in advance.

Regards,

Naz

There is no way that I know to influence this . This value will change if you start taking a lot of interface errors on the line at which point the first number will decrease . You want it to be 255/255 that way you know the line is running pretty clean , if it's anything less than this you have a line problem .

Vipergg,

thanks for your help. I was just trying to simulate those errors and have a backup line react to the reliability value, not sure if that is possible...
Thanks again.

Regards,

Naz

Wrap your feed cable around a really strong EMF source, or nick some insulation off the copper to introduce some crosstalk? :)
