Hi,
I am running solaris 10. There is a problem concerning the interface elxl0. During starting the system thare is a massage elxl0: link failure.
Moreover, i am using proxy to connect to the internet. I can browse the web pages but i cannot ping the another computer in the local network ( strange...). There is always : no answer from the host. Why is it so, and what can i do about this?? What about that link failure???

I checked it, and it's correct.
I can browse web pages but i cannnot use ftp.

please help.

Verify /etc/defaultrouter is correct...

I have also seen this problem on earlier versions of Solaris. There was something wrong with the routing table. You can flust the routing table using the "route" command... Can remember the option... Look at "man route".

in /etc/defaultrouter I have my default gateway address. So, it should be ok.
But I am not sure weather my netmasks file is ok. There is:
(...)
#loopback networks ( for intramaschine communication)

loopback 127

#internat networks

arpanet 10 arpa #historical

Is it all right, or i am missing something in this file????

ok,
i can connect to others comupuer in the network but there is still that message about elxl0 link failure.

My routing table seems to be ok. it looks like this:
126.101.26.0 126.101.26.145 U 1 1 elxl0
224.0.0.0 126.101.26.145 U 1 0 elxl0
default 126.101.26.254 UG 1 0
127.0.0.1 127.0.0.1 UH 37 164 lo0

Any ideas???
