Hi there, our 3550 switch has run out of ports and I want to add another 3550 next to it with an interconnecting cable linking them together so as to make it one big switch

Does anybody know any good docs that would help me figure out how to do this, or is it a simple procedure

any help would be greatly appreciated

Cheers

Hello
What you want to do isn't difficult.Just use a ethernet crossover cable,to connect to the other Switch,on one of the spare 10/100MB ports, and you will have one big switch.
Another solution that will let you have more bandwith.for the clients on the second switch is to use the 1000MB uplink ports. This solution is the best but you will have to invest in Gbic modules and the cables.
Regards

Or you could bundle some (up to 8) ports together on each switch to make an Etherchannel...
