I have been asked by our Audit department if it's possible to intercept email addressed to invalid recipients. What they would like is for incorrectly addressed email to either be sent to a specific mailbox, or for the NDR to be customised to include an alternative address like sysops@domain.com.

I've never heard of this being done - does anyonw know if it's possible at all? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks,

C. Le Cras

Any e-mail being sent to your mx record (domain name) with out a vaild username before the @ symbol should be sent to the 'Postmaster' account. Therefore if you set yourself as the alternate receipent to the postmasters mail box the inbound mail failures will be sent to you

Hope this helps
