Interaction with <OBJECT>

I am having no success communicating between an <object type=&quot;text/html&quot;> and it's containing page.

The <object> loads a simple dynamic page with a couple of buttons. When the user clicks a button, I'd like to action a script on the main page. What's the proper method for this? Many thanks!
