We are seeing a problem associated with the Intel Pro 100/VE NIC and loading some Web sites. Web sites such as CNN MSNBC etc will take a long time to load if connected to a catalyst 3560 switch (probably others) Cisco has a notation about problems with this switch, but it does not sound like what we are experiencing.

In our case the pages load very slowly if not at all. Other devices plugged into the same switch work properly. We booted the computer with linix, and the problem persisted.

any ideas. Your assistance is appreciated.

It doesn't sound like a WEB related issue, more of a performance or compatibility issue. Have you done any simple performace tests between different PC's - i.e. one with an Intel PRO/100 VE and one with a different vendors NIC? Simple copying of a large file 100Mb+ to an from a server and comparing times?

I have a Dell with an integrated Intel PRO/100 VE and have never had any issues with my various Cisco switches (Catalyst 2950T, 3550-24PWR, 3560 and 3750).

The only performance issue seems to be with Specific Web Sites. Performance test show no problems. Netmon only shows that the data never, or slowly gets to the host. The problem is independent of operating system. I am looking more now to a compatability issue.

Have you tried the latest nic drivers from Intel for this card ?
