Integrating multiple instances with SQL 2005 Upgrade?

Okay, I just learned that you can consolidate multiple instances when you go from SQL Server 2000 to SQL Server 2005. Has anyone actually done this? If so, how well did it work out for you?

I'm just being curious and nosey. @=)
