What I am trying to do is integrate an API into our website. The shipping company has an API available in Java, Perl, and ASP COM.

I received documentation on the ASP COM but it looks like I'll need to install some programs which our ISP won't allow.

Considering we have our sited hosted with an ISP, would be easier to integrate the Perl API because we are allowed CGI scripts?

If so, would I have trouble using Perl with CF?

Thanks.

OK

When we were buying CF I wanted to know if it was perl compatible and they havent mentioned it anywhere so I dont believe its possible(Well I'm sure its posible but the amount of work will be hidious). One problem is with the way variables are handled in both. Perl uses Scalars, Hashes, ect.. Another is they the perl(Active Perl) and CF interpreters both look at file extentions which makes it difficult. If your Linux based you wont have this problem.
One solution is to maybe use Javascript as a wraper for both moduals..?

Let me know if this was usefull, I'm interested in what you decide.
long live the camel!!

Actually, it turns out that the Courier company allows you to send and recieve information via XML. They have given sample send and response scripts in XML however, I am not sure how to make use of them in CF.

For example, I know that you need to CFHTTP to send the information but how to send the information across to them? I've seen the use of CFWDDX but I am not sure how to use it.

Just point me in the right direction. Thanks.
