My company has a Nortel Meridian Option 11C. Does anyone know if this phone system has the capability to capture touch-tone data? For example someone enters an account number or whatever and we can capture the data in a database?

depends on what the phone is doing when the numbers are dialed.. call pilot can supply ivr. if you need account numbers dialed after a 9 plus call, go to cdr and modify that to capture auth codes

It won't be the phone system collecting the digits, it will be the front end to the database (the IVR system) that the caller connects to...it reads and passes the digits to the database, finding a match, then returning the data, such as account balance, to the caller.

Do you know any companies that supply IVR systems that will interface with a Meridian Option 11C?

The IVR will either have its own trunk lines (PRI for example) or it will have analog TNs (500 type). So every IVR made will do one or the other. Al of them will be able to do both conection methods

The challenges for you will not be the interface to the phone system....it is determining how many lines are required and deciding if you use PBX lines (economy of scale in sharing lines employees use combined with IVR calls that callers use) -- or you install a seperate PRI or T1 (lots of calls).

Next, it will be your application/database team that creates a link from their system to the IVR so callers entering account numbers will "call" the database entries related to the numbers they enter.

This is not a phone system project other than your expertise at determining the number of lines required. There are a few traffic programs at my web site if needed....many more are avaiable on many web sites
