Hi,

We are getting the error: There is insufficient system memory to run this query when backing up even a small database with less than 100 rows.

Processes in task manager show memory at 2.88gb. SQL using about 2gb of that.

This seems to happen about every two days until we restart the server.

Would someone be able to review my settings below and see if there is any glaring change I should make?

Windows 2003 Server
4 processors
4gb RAM (although system properties shows 3.25gb)

We have approximately 45 workstations using an application on SQL.

SQL 2000 standard SP4
SQL Settings:
Min Memory: 0
Max Memory: 3250 (out of 3327)
Worker Threads: 50
Boost SQL Priority turned on
Minimum query plan for parallel execution: 5

Thanks!

This may actually be a hardware issue. I overheard one of our system guys, a while back, saying that there is a checkbox for 64 bit/hyperthreading that messing with SQLs performance. It was a setup issue with the server itself.

Is that within the SQL configuration or Windows configuration? Any idea where I could find that?

Not sure, If you aren't the Server guy, then I would check with the Server guy. If you are the Server guy, then I would create a new post in the SQL Server Setup and Administration forum.

How large are your databases? What size is your buffer cache? What is your page life time?

I'm getting the exact same error on my system at the moment, it's because we don't have enough memory in our system. We've got 8 Gigs at the moment, and are upgrading to 16 Gigs in the next day or two (as soon as the memory comes in).
