Here is my problem.
I have a Server (win2003) and it has SQL Server 2000 installed on it.
The name of the server is 'SQLSERVER'. When in enterprise manager, I click on properties (general tab) the name shows
up as '(LOCAL)'. This is not the name I want. I want the name to be the same as the server name 'SQLSERVER'.

How do I change it?

In Enterprise Manager, right-click "Local" and delete the SQL Server Registration. Then right-click the Servers and choose "Add new SQL Server Registration". When you go through the Wizard, if it says local again, just rename it to the Instance name.

Deleting the Registration doesn't delete the actual SQL Server, BTW. It just takes it out of your EM console.
