Hi,
I am new to Commvault, just installed the 5.9.0 version on a Windows 2003 Server as both the "SQL" Server and as a media server, but can't get my Overland LXB SCSI jukebox working, the status is offline all the time.
(The very same jukebox and Windows 2003 server works allright with both Legato networekr and Netvault, but will not work with Commvault) Please advise!

Regards
Cia

Hi

Have you run an exhaustive detection when configuring your library & disabled RSM?

Could be a SCSI id problem...which an exhaustive detection should sort out.

Hi,

Yes I have.

The thing is that this very configuration, Windows 2003 and this Overland library worked just fine with Legato NetWorker version 7.1.3. But as soon as I want to run CommVault 5.9 this very config will not work. (I just uninstall Legato, reboot the server and leave it there).
Try to make a new installation of CommVault, still not working, uninstall reboot, install NetWorker again, and it just works fine with NetWorker.

Make sure you have the Removeable Storage service disabled.

Sorry, I see that someone already mentioned disabling the RSM. I did notice that as of Galaxy 5.0 the Overland LXB was only supported if the firmware was 5.19 or 5.24. Not sure if that applies to Galaxy 5.9, but it may be worth checking into.

Yes,

I have checked the firmware and it's old, but the scsi device is shown in boot up process, and the scsi library is going on-line for a sec, then offline again, strange?
So if it's possible to get the library on-line, I think it will work.

Hi

Definately upgrade the firmware...also make sure you have installed Galaxy SP1 in case there's any patches for the Overland.

I've looked around and can't find anything relating to this problem regarding Galaxy but, found an interesting post regarding Backup Exec & Overland

I will see if it's possible to upgrade the Firmware on my Oveland box.

Where can get SP1 from?

/Cia

You can download it from Commvault if you have a support agreement.

Thank you, I will contact my distributer of CommVault to get this SP1, I thik this will solve the problen, then I know that there are problems with a Spectra Logic 2K SCSI box as well.

Did you not purchase a support agreement? Even the standard support gives you access to the Maintenance Advantage portal which allows you to download patches and service packs, as well as research the knowledge base. I would check with the sales rep and / or the pre-sales engineer if you were working with one to get your account set up.

Also, SP2 is supposed to be available today according to Commvault.

I will get a login so I can fetch the SP2 early next week.

Hi all!

SP2 did the trick, now it's working OK :)

Glad to hear everything worked out. I think you will enjoy using Commvault once you get used to it.
