I am building this system with removable SATA drives. I installed XP while only one drive was hooked up to the system, now when I hook up the second HD, XP will not recognize it. I tried FDisk but XP doesn't support it. Any ideas on how to add my second HD to XP. I have done this tons of times to 98 and 95 but never to 2000 or XP. Please help!!!!

If at first you don't succeed, reboot!

Go into Control Panel->Administrative Tools->Computer Management->Storage->Disk Management.
Check if the drive appears there. If it is there, thne you cna go ahead and format it as you please, from there.

Hope this helps

Thanks for the tip; I'll try it as soon as I am done with my current install. I have five systems with dual HDD. BTW, in SATA configuration, how can you tell Master from Slave, or does it matter to XP?

This comes directly from Seagate's website.
Seagate.com said:
Serial ATA drives are designed for easy installation with no jumpers, terminators or other settings. It is not necessary to set any jumpers on SATA drvies for proper operation.

Each Drive on the Serial ATA interface connects in a point to point configuration with the serial ATA host. There is no master/slave relationship becasue each drive is considered a master in point to point realtionships. If two drives are attached on one serial ATA host, the host operating system views the two devices as if they where both masters on two separate ports. This means both drives behave as if they are Device 0 (master) devices. Each drive has its own cable.

Your Serial ATA host adapter may provide master/slave emulation options. See your host adapter documentation for details.

Hope this helps.

Have you tried going to:

Control Panel->Regional and Language Options->Languages->Details->Settings->Language Bar->

And Uncheck the Show Language Bar on Desktop option , see if that does anything.
