I am planning on installing WINS on Windows 2003 Server. Once installation is complete, when I open the Advanced TCP/IP properties for the server, will it automatically have the IP address of itself in the WINS tab? Also, what will (or rather what should) be the "NetBIOS setting" - (a) Default: . . . (b) Enable NetBIOS over TCP/IP (c) Disable NetBIOS over TCP/IP?

Thanks

assuming you are talking the 2003 server, you need to manually assign WINS information on the TCP/IP settings. For clients, you should setup DHCP options.

Ok. So for Server 2K3, I should manually go and add the ip address of myself as a WINS server. Question is what setting is reccomended (& why) for the NetBIOS settings?

Thanks.
