I just installed Windows 2K. I have a desktop running Windows 2K and a laptop running Win 98 and a Ethernet connection using an 8 port hub. When I attempt to look at a list of "Computers near me" I get the following error message: XXX is not accessible - The list of servers for this workgroup is not currently available

This worked before reinstalling all the software.

Thanks
Jean

Have you tried to join all the workgroup on your computers. Also, are you using the same subnet such at 10.0.0.xxx? Are you using DHCP or static IP address?

I would first tried putting all the computers on the same subnet. Then I would join the workgroup.

I have a single workgroup and both machines have the same workgroup name. I am using DHCP addressing

Could you let me know how that is set up

Thanks
Jean

Not much to set up. Don't know if it's installed on 98 machines. When you find it in services, just click properties, select startup as automatic and start it. Pretty simple. Glen A. Johnson
