Hi all,

I have Win XP on my PC on C drive which is the primary partition, i now want to install Windows 2000. The documentation on the Microsoft site says to install 2000 first and then XP. But my case is different, i already have XP installed.
Can someone suggest the best possible way to install 2000 without disturbing XP(i have enough hard disk space to create a another primary partition).

Your best bet is to use something like Partition Magic. You can then hide your XP partition, create a second primary and install 2K on that. Then you can use Partition Magic's Boot Magic to boot between the two. The beauty of this is both operating systems are on C drive and you can share a D drive between the 2 operating systems.

Hope this helps,

Glenn.

You can use PArtition MAgic (carefully) to create a secondary partition out of that free space that you have. After you create it, make sure XP is working.
After that, you can install Windows 2000 on that partition (the new one), it will create automatically a Boot manu, so you can choose with OS you want to use. A+, MCP, CCNA

look at - you need to 'really' hide xp partition when installing 2k (you don't need PM if there's enough free apce on your HD).

PS - if install2k on 2k 'straight' ypu can always copy back ntldr & ntdetect.com from XP install CD to root of c: to put things right.
