I have a wole lot of problems with a crappy Win ME OS. I want to install Win 98 SE. The PC came with Win ME pre installed...Is there any problems I should be expecting like loosing important drivers from my motherboard etc? I'd appreciate any help on this matter. I have an HP Pavilion runnin a Celeron 766MHZ with 64 SDRam.

Before you format, download all the win98 drivers you need and put them on didk (if possible) other tahn that you should be fine. James Collins

i also have the same dilemma as the above post, what exactly do you mean by downloading the drivers for win98?
do you mean for the hardware like printers etc? or things like the motherboard? please enlighten me :)

butchrecon was most likely referring to hardware drivers (i.e. motherboard, printers, sound card, etc...)

orlando847,
I applaud your move to do so, but keep in mind that your warranty with HP might be affected. I advise giving them a call first to make sure. Otherwise, good luck!

BTW- it probably wouldn't hurt making an image of your hard drive first (either on another partition, or if you have a backup device of some kind such as a cd-burner). Norton's Ghost is perfect for this...
