Hi to all, I hope you guys can help me out with this problem. I am trying to install w2k on a partition i created, the default operatin system that running on the pc is xp home edition. When i do the installing i start it with the bootable disk that i created for w2k and now everything goes perfectly until i get were i have to choose if i want to install it on a partition. From there i get this message telling me that i must have window 95 or 98 or nt cd to able to proceed with the installation for w2k so what can i do to avoid the the step that is asking me to do because i don't have the cd for those operating system.

Did you choose upgrade , or Clean Installation ?
You have to select Clean Installation to bypass this step ..

If this is an upgrade CD then you must be able to prove that you have an qualifying operating system. If you do not have the qualifying OS then there is not much that can be done.

I am doing a clean installation on the partition i created with partition Magic. I am trying to install window 2000 pro on another partition but why is it asking me for a window 95, 98 or NT Cd. so can you guys help with and thanks to all. Well guys i hope i gave you the right question you were asking me and the cd i have is not an upgrade version.

Yes if the CD is a full install then you would need to select clean install and check the box to allow picking the install partition.

I'm pretty confident you only have the upgrade version of win2k... Even though it's the full thing, it will require a previous version (win9x NT4) to verify with before you can install it...

Sorry... But unless u do something "un-Bill-authorised" you can't get around it...
