I have setup a test SMS Server in my office on a separate Server and have been doing test. I want to now install the SMS on my PDC. Is this a good idea or should I leave it on a separated server?
I've installed SMS on Windows 2000 domain controller in the past. There has been no issues with doing this.
I think in SMS 1.2 days, it was a good idea to install SMs on domain controllers.
However, I like to install SMS on dedicated SMS servers. This way, the system is running on its own. In my past experience, I think it would be better to dedicate SMS to a member server in your domain. (Of course, if your environment is very small, you could install it on the PDC.)
Hope this helpsz. Joseph L. Poandl
