Can it be done and what are the pitfalls? PC has Office 97, but not any Publisher. Can Publisher 2000 or 2002 be installed by itself as a custom install? Or must I remove 97 and install Office 2000. They just want to add Publisher 2000 or 2002 but not 97 or 98 yet keep Office 97 if possible. What about installing into a different folder than 97? Are dll files and other shared components going to be compromised so that Word 97 for example will not work?

Using NT 4.0 sp6a.

If Publisher is not already installed on the computer, there should be no problems with installing Publisher 2000 on it. One caveat: If you're installing Publisher from a MS Office 2000 CD, it will upgrade the existing '97 applications to the 2K versions unless you take the custom install route, but if it's just a plain Publisher only CD, the install routine should ignore the other applications. Just take the default setups and everything should go fine.
