hey,
this one has really got me confused. I'm in the process of installing a new accounting package on all the machines in the office [a mix of W98/2000/XPpro] & we're having great dificulties in gettin the software onto one specific machine:

Its a W2KPro, 128mbRAM, 20Gb HDD, P4 1.6Ghz with SP2:

The errors im receiving are as follow:

i try to install the software through Explorer [my computer/cd drive/setup file] & receive the following message when i double-click the setup file: "Install8.0.exe is not a valid win32 app"

i try to install the software thru start/run/browse to setup file: "Access Denied" and "your system may be out of memory, close some applications & try again"

i try to copy the files on the cd to the local drive: "data error copying D:, cyclic redundancy check"

I know its not the disc thats faulty coz i've already installed it about 20 times.

I know the software is compatible with W2K coz my machine is the same spec & its works with no problems.

I know its not the CD drive coz i can install other programs without any bother.

I've not got a clue where to start looking really & since you guys are the best help around, i was hoping someone could maybe shed some light on the situation?

thanx

This machine - its been ok apart from this?

To see if its the actual files that are causing problem, you could try copying (or installing from) them over the network from another machine rather than from the CD.

there's been no problems at all with the machine.

One thing i forgot to say [my apologies] is that my first thought was the cd drive so i put the cd into the W2Kserver & shared the drive & tried to install the software from there, but the machine siezed up and gave the same error messages i first mentioned.

i'll try copying the files & doing a network install, & i'll let u no how it goes

thanx

hey, i copied the files onto a separate machine, and still no luck.. as soon as i double-click the setup file, it stops responding 7 eventually i get the usual error messages [described in 1st post]

the company that made/support the software are coming up to visit anyway, so they may be able to help us out..[tho my instinct says its pc related]...hmmm

i'll keep you posted tho

thanx much
