Hi all,

I have this 3com/usr modem given to me without a driver and just in a cardboard box. Put it in COM3 to replace 28k modem original pre installed in COM1.

In win 95, I get the following msg: another program is using your modem, cannot access modem, and something about it being unplugged.

What's going on? I think the modem is dead...

Try going into device manager and removing the old modem from the system. The computer will then request that you restart, let it do so. If it doesn't prompt a restart, restart it anyway. When the computer boots back up, it will recognize the new modem, and ask for drivers. Drivers can be found at Driverguide.com, who seem to have a good selection. That should take care of it. Unless of course, the modem is just DEAD. As I said, though, if the modem is still functioning, it will work after these easy steps.
