Can anyone please tell me how to install MySQL on FreeBSD 4.3. I downloaded the latest .tar.gz file from the MySQL site and a couple of tutorials.

When I extract and then run the ./configure command, it tells me that this is a binary distribution and doesn't need configuring. It is ready to go. It then reports that it will start the MySQL server and create a sample database. It also gives several commands to test the database. None of them work. The error message is, "couldn't find /tmp/mysqld.sock".

Any ideas anyone?

Many Thanks.
