I am trying to install Oracle 9i on Rh 8.0 this is my first time installing oracle I got up to when the universal installer tried starting up the Agent configuration Assistant it failed on that how can I fix this problem ?

Hi,
it's hard to tell how to fix this problem, if there isn't some more information.
Oracle universal install should have written a log file.
Any error messages?

I am sort of clueless can you advise where the log file may be?

Hi,
some time has passed since I last used OUI, and so I don't remember.
Perhaps /tmp ? In this case the files might have been deleted in the meantime.
But your docs/manuals should tell you. And perhaps you have been asked for a location during installation?
If anything else fails: Start installation once again, and now write down all that might be of some interest. (Location of files, ORACLE_SID, user names, error messages, ...
