I have an 8.1.7 OFS on NT two node Cluster sharing a raid. I only have 500 meg left on my C drive on each node, but plenty of raid space and local drive space (i.e. d drive). I want to install a 9i standalone on either a local drive or a raid drive so that I can use the 9i external tables feature, but I am a little unsure if a raid drive install is an option. Therefore, I will post this with an intention on installing on a local drive (lets say d drive on node 1) that has plenty of drive space. In this install do I need c drive space? I am creating a new home for this install and have plenty of memory.
Any concerns I should have? Will the OFS 8i database be ok with the 9i standalone install on one node. Has anyone done this? Thanks in advance. Any advice appreciated

You should be ok. I have a similar setup with an 8.1.7 Failsafe cluster along with a standalone 9.2 database on one of the cluster nodes. I'm using separate Oracle homes, but both of the homes are on the same drive. It seems to me that the only difference in your plan is to put the new Oracle home on a different local drive, which shouldn't make any difference at all.

thanks, its reassuring to know that someone else has done this
