Installer running constantly

I've keyword searched on my problem but nothing matches my symptoms. In Win2k, whenever I launch IE, Win Installer pops up and flickers and then vanishes. I can never figure out what it's trying to install. I suspect a recent un-install didn't totally clear out the program but I can't figure out what program.

Advice/suggestions is/are appreciated.

I've seen this before but it was related to spyware and not installer. Be safe to run a spyware check I suppose.
