Just installed Xp Pro. When installation began, disk did not offer "upgrade" option as expected, only "install (advanced)." Was afraid of deleting all Win98 files, so I placed xp pro in a directory with a different name. Now I have a c:\new name with xp pro and a c:\windows with win98. OS works fine but two sets of files have consumed all of my 4.0 gig hard drive and apps not functional. How do I fix this without uninstall/reinstall xp pro? And, if must uninstall/reinstall how to do that? Thanks!

With only a 4Gb drive, I would go back to 98! XP takes @1.5Gb installed clean - doesn't leave much room for apps, does it? How about a new, faster hard disk? What is the spec on the machine?

Andy.

Thanks for the prompt response. Will consider a new, larger hard drive. Had planned to just make-do with this old clone w/o much more upgrading. The processor is AMD-K6-2 running at 300mhz with 384 ram (just added 128)and Win98 can only access 256 I understand. Any suggestions for a larger hard drive?

A K6-2 300 is going to be struggling with XP. 98 will use more than 512Mb of Ram, just a little tweak required. Best to use an add-in IDE card with a 7,200rpm HD of 40GB or bigger.

Andy.
