installed new card and get "Unknown WAN daughter card"

when i type show diag.

Unknown WAN daughter card; on at 1720 router, with IOS 12.1.

think i have to pay for the IOS upgrade, and That will do it? Any other way, I would hate to spend money on somehting that may not fix this.

Make sure your current IOS version supports your card. If not, then you'll have to upgrade to a version that does.
