I am trying to install a ISA (old one) Adaptec SCSI card. Windows 98 is resporting resource conflicts during the driver installation.

Can someone assist with determining which IRQ's etc are currently being used so I can select settings that are free.

I have tried looking though all the devices (Control Panel -> System) but everything I select is being used.

Thank you.

(Note: I have tried both a AVA-1505 and AHA-1542B) "Life is full of learning, and then there is wisdom"

Don't remember if 98 is the same but on 95 in device manager
you click on computer it allows you to choose to look at IRQs, IOs, DMa nad memory.
You may have to remove something to free up an IRQ for your SCSI, instal the SCSI, then reinstall whatever you pulled and let plug & pray sort it out. You may also have to force a manual selection of the IRQ.
I usually drop the sound card since sound cards are asset hogs. Ed Fair

Ed,

Thank you ... this is just the assistance I was looking for.

It is actually a friend'sPC so I will try it very soon.

Thanks again. "Life is full of learning, and then there is wisdom"
