Please could anyone advise me if it's possible for me to find the installation keys/licence keys for a working version of Arcserve 6.61

I need to reinstall as the database has corrupted itself beyond even the help of the database check/repair tool.

I have the media but have unfortunatley filed away the licence information in such a safe place (6 years ago) that I can't find it.

I was wondering if there was any way within the system that it would tell me the keys. I've had a quick root round but not managed to find anything.

Thanks as always in anticipation of advice.

Hi,
On your server you should have a ca.olf file.
If you open that one in a wordpad document you will see the license key.

You should be able to initialize your database to solve any issues with it.

See faq478-5164 for documentation on how to do that.

I hope you find this post helpful.

Thank you GSC.

The problem I'm having is that I can't stop or start the Database engine. When I eventually can get it to stop it won't start again. I did try running the database check/repair utility on it but that wouldn't work either.

I've got the keys using the information you supplied so I will probably have a go at reinstalling it later in the week.

No problem.

If the DB doesn't start you can also:

1.Kill the DBEng.exe and RDS.exe services.
2.Open the ARCServe directory then open to the Database directory.
3.Remove all the files ending with *.CHG and all files starting with RDM
4.Restart the engine.

Re-run the FAQ478-5164 documentation.

You can maybe also contact CA and they will be able to provide a blank DB for you so you don't have to re-install Arcserve.

I hope you find this post helpful.
