Installation Error

I added a new (secondary) hard drive, and my drive letters got switched all around in the process. So when I tried to open Outlook, I got some funky error saying the application had to be installed from the same location ...

So, I tried to re-install from every drive under the sun and that didn't work. So, I saved my .pst and un-installed office.

Now when I try to install office, I get this message:
The system administrator has set policies to prevent this installation

Does anyone have a fix for this? I am beside myself, and want to take this thing down to it's final cpu pin.

There was a fix for this error for Norton Antivirus on the Microsoft site, but I have not been able to find the solution for Office 2000.

I am using Windows 2000 Professional.

Thanks in advance for any input.

We all agree your theory is crazy, but is it crazy enough?

Bcastner,

Thanks for the utility, but Office 2000 doesn't show up on the list when I run the utility.

I removed Office with the CD, and for some reason it did not delete the Office folder in Program Files, nor did it get rid of a bunch of registry entries.

So I have spent the better part of the night and just about every method I can think of, and it still won't let me install 2000. I even installed Office 97 and then uninstalled it thinking it would remove any files or registry entries I missed, didn't work.

This is driving me crazy, and I sure don't want to have to call Microsoft (they don't do nothin' for free). Thanks for your help.
