Hi All,
Has any one installed XP from the floppies? If you have how long did it take?
Thanks

Ok, let me make sure im completely understanding this right lol. Are you refering to installing the complete xp operating system with nothing but floppies?

Would that be 5.25 or 3.5 inch floppies, I imagine about 2 days to get the files onto floppy and another 2 days to install the system, however you might wear out a couple of floppy drives in the process?

Is this what you mean?

XP: Install Windows from a Bootable Floppy Disc

Or this?

If it is any of the above two then the install time would be about the same as a normal install of XP.

About 3 extra minutes to load the drivers to get the CD running.

Well one way I know of you could put the cd in a computer and just start copying the files to the floppy disk.

That disk you showed is just a startup disk like windows 98 startup disk. Its not the complete os. Just enough files so you can run from dos. Id try replacing the cdrom, if its the motherboard that wont read the cdrom well you could then take the hard drive out, put it in another computer then copy xp cd onto it. Then load with a windows 98 or xp floppy boot disc and run the install from the hard drive.

That in my opinion would be a lot easier than trying to use floppys.

I found a 98 cd Took the HD out and used another machine to install it. Reinstalled the hd and I'm getting ready to do the upgrade now. Thanks to every one for all the help.
