Every time I shut down my computer it asks me if I want to "install updates and shut down." I know there is a directory that stores the files that are to be installed and all I have to do is delete them and the problem will go away but I can't remember where the directory is.

Does any one know???

Thanks

Do you mean you say yes to install the updates - but it keeps asking? If so, it probably means the updates are failing - you should visit windows update and look at your update history to find out what's been going on.

Yes that's what I mean. I checked the history and it keeps wanting to install a security update for visual studio.net. Each time it install correctly. I have had this problem before and I just needed to clear out a directory that held the update before it got installed, I just can't remember what directory it was.

I found it, the folder is

C:\WINDOWS\SoftwareDistribution

To clear it out stop the Automatic Updates service, rename the folder and start the service up again and windows re-creats a clean SoftwareDistribution folder. Problem Gone.
