Hi,

I have a CD RW 5232. How can I install this drive on the Sun Blade 100 with Solaris 9? I replaced the drive that came with Sun Blade with this drive. How can I get the system to recognize this drive?

Thanks very much,

Have you tried a reconfiguration boot.

at the ok> prompt: boot -r

or

In the root directory: touch reconfigure

init 6

Hi

I did probe-ide
show-disks and it shows the drive present.
But when I boot cdrom, it says "can't read disk label"

Thanks

Are you sure your new CD-Rom Drive is compatable with Solaris. If I remember right the block size for Solaris CD's is 512.

This drive was bought from SUN for Sun Blade 150. I am installing it on Sun Blade 100. I think it is compatible. How can you determine if the block size is 512?

Could not find the CDRW you have on Sun's site. The one they called out for the SunBlade 150 is part # X6187A. Specification says this drive is a 48X drive. The one you specified is a 52X drive. This is not saying the spec on Sun's site is up to date. A few years ago, Plexor was the only company that put out CDRWs for UNIX workstations. There was a jumper that had to be installed to be compatable. Almost all equipment I have purchased through Sun came with a Installation and Users Guide that assisted in set-up. If you don't have this documentation, I would call for tech assist. Sorry I could not help further.
